Blues Sweep Volleyball Twinbill Against Highland

Tuesday, Oct. 8 -- The Parry McCluer High School volleyball team swept a varsity doubleheader against Highland County in Buena Vista, claiming both best-of-three matches by 2-0 counts.

The Fighting Blues improved to 3-3 in Pioneer District action and 9-10 overall with a 25-4, 25-13 victory in the first match and a 25-18, 25-10 win in the nightcap.

In game one, Natalie Mohler totaled 10 assists and seven service aces for PM, and Peira Conner added six aces and two kills. Josie Martinez and Kadence Zollman tallied four kills apiece, while Emory Slagle chipped in a pair of kills.

Mohler then posted 17 assists and four aces in the second contest. Conner recorded eight kills and five digs, and Keely Mahaffey -- who registered her 100th kill of the season during the twinbill -- notched six kills. Slagle had three kills and five aces, and Allie Cullen also finished with three kills. Logan Vest paced the defense with seven digs, and Remi Hickman contributed four digs, two kills and an ace.

The Blues will entertain Pioneer foe Narrows on Thursday. Action begins with the junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m.
