Mountain Day Back In BV Saturday

3 Ole’ Grouches Winners Will Be Announced

Mountain Day, the annual arts and crafts festival, is back again this Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Buena Vista.

A regional tradition for over 20 years, Mountain Day will feature dozens of local artisans and vendors showcasing their unique creations. Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of handmade crafts, enjoy fun food options, learn about community organizations, and listen to live music throughout the day.

Mountain Day is sponsored by the Buena Vista Arts Council (BVAC) and Main Street Buena Vista (MSBV), both of which are dedicated to fostering the arts and supporting local businesses.

“Mountain Day is a wonderful event that showcases the charm of downtown Buena Vista, the talents of our local artists and craftsmen, and the exciting progress happening all around town,” said Brooke Dalton, executive director of Main Street Buena Vista. “From new businesses and the development of Town Square to revitalization efforts both downtown and at Glen Maury Park, we have so much to be proud of.”

The enter tainment schedule is as follows, with the events being held in Town Square: 10 to 11 a.m. - Koty and Lewayne 11 to 11:30 a.m. - Accolade 11:30 to noon - Blue Ridge Forest Theater Noon to 12:45 p.m. -Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers 12:45 to 1 p.m. – Monacan 1 to 2 p.m. - Jason Hostetter 2 to 3 p.m. - Dennis Thorne 3 to 3:30 p.m. - Bruce Allen and Jason Burke 3:30 p.m. - Announcement of Buena Vista’s Three Ole’ Grouches The Three Ole’ Grouches is a new contest sponsored by Main Street Buena Vista. Area residents are invited to stop by the organization’s booth during the day to vote for their favorite “Grouches.”

Another new feature this year will be an appearance by author Sally Chaffin Brooks, who will be debuting her memoir, “Going to Maine,” about her Appalachian Trail thru-hike. She’ll be signing books, selling copies, and doing a question and answer during the event. Based in Atlanta, Ga., Brooks is a writer, stand-up comedian, and podcaster, with two chart-topping comedy albums (“Brooks Was Here” and “Street Bird”). She co-hosts the podcasts The Ridiculist and Dumb Love.
