Lexington firefighters attend to local resident James Allen after he was extricated from his overturned van following an accident Friday afternoon. According to Lexington police, his van had suffered a major mechanical malfunction as he was driving northbound on the Lexington bypass, caused it to veer into the oncoming lane and collide with a Subaru driven by Caroline Lauck. Lauck, unable to stop or turn, struck Allen’s passenger side, which caused the van to flip and the Subaru to spin out and suffer heavy front-end damage. No injuries were reported and both drivers were able to walk away from the accident. No driver was at fault, according to police, and therefore no charges have been filed. (Scotty Dransfield photo)
