Kerrs Creek

Rachel Clark, (630)

Thank you to Bill Hackett for encouraging us to think about the ways we use our gifts and time in our church and community. Time and Talent sheets are available in the vestibule at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church and on the table by the door in the Sunday school building.

We will begin collections for flood victims in the southern states that were affected by Hurricane Helene. If you choose to write a check or give cash, please mark it for that, so it will go to the right fund. I will get out a list of needed supplies soon to put kits together to replenish what has been used by the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance teams and supplement if more are needed.

The adult Sunday school will be discussing how to be faithful Christians in the midst of politics and political differences.

There will be a fall chili dinner on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. in the church pavilion. Sign up to bring chili, cornbread and/or pie.

The Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club met at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church on Sept. 17 for the annual zone meeting. Ruth Pardons from the Effinger Club, Tim Manning from Natural Bridge and Janet Drake from Kerrs Creek spoke about their clubs fundraisers and volunteer activities. It was nice to hear what the other clubs are doing to make their communities better.

Dianne Swink, district governor, spoke about the District Convention that will be held at Bonsack United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 16. Dianne thanked the clubs for all they do.

The golf tournament was a big success! Thank you again to all the sponsors, donors, teams and volunteers. There will be a trash pickup on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 8. Meet at the recycling center. Gary Swink will be a candidate for president elect at the Ruritan National Convention held in Greenville, S.C., in January 2025. The next Ruritan Club meeting is Oct. 15 at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m.
