Cakewalk At Kerrs Creek To Benefit Hurricane Victims

A benefit cakewalk will be held at the Kerrs Creek Fire Department on Friday, Oct. 18. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person to walk until all cakes are claimed. All proceeds will go to the assistance of the victims of Hurricane Helene in Ashville, N.C. The event is hosted by Helen Irvine and Henry Schreiber with the help of many in the community.

Billy Fitzgerald and Friends will supply live music for the cakewalk. A raffle will be held for two antique quilts. Drawings will award many additional prizes. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will also be available.

Organizers of the benefit have obtained numerous 5-gallon buckets with lids and they are available to anyone who wants to fill one. Call Irvine at (540) 460-2274 for more information. Organizers hope to also receive a sufficient amount of donations to purchase several pallets of bottled water and other necessary items.
