A fire early Monday morning caused significant damage to this house on Walker Street in Lexington, rendering it uninhabitable. Firefighters were dispatched to 214 Walker St. at 1:48 a.m. and the bulk of the fire was knocked down by 2:07 a.m., reported Lexington Fire Chief Ty Dickerson. Firefighters from Buena Vista, Kerrs Creek, Effinger and Natural Bridge joined Lexington in the firefighting efforts, which continued for several more hours to make sure the fire was completely out. The house’s occupant and a dog escaped uninjured. One Buena Vista firefighter sustained a minor injury and was seen by EMS and returned to work on the fire. (photo courtesy of LFD)
