Editor, The News-Gazette: This message is in response to recent letters and a column on the subject of neither political party holding the “high ground” on the subject of immigration.
These communications failed to account for the fact that the very conservative James Lankford, Republican senator from Oklahoma, had authored what became a bipartisan border bill that was ready to be voted on. It was then that Trump demanded that his fellow Republicans pull the bill in order to give him a political bargaining chip, rather than to solve a problem that has bedeviled both parties for decades. While both parties have shared responsibility, only one has actually called a halt to the process. It is time to stop blaming Biden and Harris. DAVID DAX Lexington
