Wednesday, Oct. 30 -- The Parry McCluer High School volleyball team came from two sets down to defeat Narrows 3-2 on the road in the Pioneer District championship match.
The third-seeded Fighting Blues (15-11) rallied past the top-seeded Green Wave (17-4) with a 17-25, 21-25, 27-25, 26-24, 15-12 victory to claim the program's first district championship since the 2005 season.
Keely Mahaffey posted a double-double for PM, notching 15 kills and 17 digs to go along with eight assists, three blocks and three service aces. Kadence Zollman added 16 kills, three blocks and three aces, and Logan Vest recorded 23 digs and four aces.
Natalie Mohler chipped in 13 assists, eight digs and three kills for the Blues, and Allie Cullen tallied 13 digs and four kills.
The victory was the third in as many nights in the Pioneer tournament for PM, which swept sixth-seeded Highland County at home in the quarterfinals on Monday and then defeated No. 2 seed Bath County 3-0 on the road in Tuesday's semifinal round.
The Blues will play host to a Region 1C quarterfinal match on Monday, with time and opponent to be determined.
