The Parry McCluer High School volleyball team will take on Grayson County in Buena Vista at 6 p.m. Monday in the quarterfinals of the Region 1C tournament.
The Fighting Blues (15-11) enter the regional playoffs fresh off their first Pioneer District tournament championship since 2005. Seeded third in last week's district bracket, PM beat the top two seeds on the road, taking down No. 2 Bath County 3-0 in Tuesday's semifinal round before rallying from two sets down to defeat No. 1 Narrows 3-2 in the final on Wednesday.
PM earned the No. 2 seed from the Pioneer for the Region 1C tournament, as Narrows still received the district's top seed by virtue of winning the regular-season title. The Blues will face the Blue Devils (17-6), who received the third seed from the Mountain Empire District after beating George Wythe 3-2 in the third-place match of their district tournament on Wednesday.
The winner of Monday's match will advance to the regional semifinals, which are tentatively slated for Thursday evening.
