Gentle Acres Plans Fall Fundraiser

Gentle Acres, an animal rescue facility in Fairfield, is seeking support of its mission through an upcoming fall event and a search for volunteers.

On Nov. 16, Gentle Acres is conducting Harvest Tails, a fall-themed event, in order to raise money to support all of the animals that the group’s founder, Jeanine Wittlinger, takes care of.

The event is from 4 to 8 p.m. and will include live music, a food truck, and a tour of the sanctuary. Attendees might even have a chance to get a “moo kiss” from one of the resident cows.

Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $15 for students, and $5 for children. Space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to buy tickets early at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/harvest-tails-tickets-1041966869957?aff=ebdsoporgprofile.

Gentle Acres is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization and all ticket purchases are 100% tax deductible.

Wittlinger started her sanctuary — which specializes in farm animals such as cows, goats, chickens and pigs, but also includes cats, dogs and others — with one goal in mind: to offer a nurturing haven for animals who have faced neglect and abuse. Fueled by her motto “Be kind to every kind,” she worked as a veterinary technician for 12 years, but now focuses all her time on caring for her many roommates: 79 other animals.

As Wittlinger continues to rescue more animals into her family, she needs volunteers to help her with the animals, tend to the on-site garden, volunteer at events, and many other options. Volunteers could join the initiative weekly, monthly, or whenever their schedule allows, but every helping hand would be highly appreciated.

Those interested can contact Wittlinger and Gentle Acres Animal Haven at [email protected]. Area residents can also follow Instagram and Facebook to keep up with the animals and their lives: @gentleacresanimalhaven.
