In high school volleyball playoff action on Monday night, Rockbridge County pulled off an upset by earning a 3-2 road win over Western Albemarle in the first round of the Region 3C tournament in Crozet, while Parry McCluer ended its season with a 3-0 home loss to Grayson County in the Region 1C quarterfinals in Buena Vista.
Coming back from a 2-1 deficit, 11th-seeded RC (11-10) prevailed 25-22, 2325, 10-25, 25-11, 15-11 over the sixth-seeded Warriors (16-11). The Wildcats advanced to face third-seeded East Rockingham (20-3) in the Region 3C quarterfinals tonight, Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m. in Elkton. The two Valley District teams met twice during the regular season, with East Rockingham winning both times, 3-2 on Sept. 12 in Lexington and 3-1 on Oct. 8 in Elkton.
