Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 High Bridge Presbyterian Church visitors this past Sunday were Roger Lotts of Washington state, Sarah West Lobos of Baltimore, Md., and friend James Timmarn of Washington, D.C., and Betty Willis of Spruce Pine, N.C. She is spending time with her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Steve and Amy Willis, while their area is recovering from the hurricane.
This coming Sunday, we will have “Noisy Can” offering and children’s church under the leadership of Donna Lotts, director of Children’s Ministry.
The deacons are making plans for the fall chili cookoff on Sunday, Nov. 17, after church service. A trophy will be awarded to the winner. Besides chili, cornbread and crackers are appreciated. All are welcome to attend.
The afternoon circle meets at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the home of Cindie and David Whitmore with Joanna Whitmore as hostess.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Weekday Religious Education’s themed basket bingo fundraiser this past Saturday at the Natural Bridge firehouse. We also thank the supporting churches and friends who supplied 16 themed baskets plus 70 or so gifts for door prizes. Also, thanks to those who donated baked goods and vendors who donated pizzas and gift cards. The amount of funds raised will be announced later.
Beth Horon United Methodist Church is having its annual pork dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. Also on that day starting at 6 p.m., there will be a cakewalk at Glasgow first aid building to benefit the Glasgow Life Saving Crew. The Natural Bridge/ Glasgow food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting cranberry sauce, stuffing and canned sweet potatoes (also vegetable oil) for the food pantry during the month of November.
