Bobby Black, Bruce Macdonald and Beverly Nedrow were elected as elders, class of 2027, at Oxford Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 3.

A community cakewalk sponsored by area churches will be held at the Palmer Community Center from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The money raised will go to God’s Pit Crew. This organization based in Danville responds quickly to the victims of natural disasters including the floods in North Carolina and Virginia. If you care to make a donation, please make it to “God’s Pit Crew.” Donations of cakes are also needed.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m., Ellen Campbell will have a workshop on making fleece hats for the flood victims. She has made these hats for farmers, hunters and for those who work outside in cold weather. They say that they are the warmest hats that they have ever worn. If anyone would like to help, please bring portable sewing machines. Also needed are folks to cut, sew, and provide fleece and refreshments. The fleece can be purchased at Walmart for approximately $11 for 1.5 yards.

Boxes of cereal are needed for the Neighborhood Grocery for the month of November.
