This weekend the Greater Rockbridge County Skateboarder Coalition will be setting up its portable park alongside the existing obstacles at the Lexington Skatepark on freshly sealed asphalt for a Community Appreciation Weekend event.
By adding 30 extra obstacles, this will be the most action this park has seen in years, said a spokesman. There will also be an open public address system for musicians to plug into from 1 to 4 p.m. and vendor spots open. Any vendor looking to sign up can contact the group through the GRCSC Facebook page.
Skateboards and safety gear will be available to check out for free use during the event from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be no entry fee but donations to GRCSC as well as food donations to the Rockbridge Area Relief Association and Rockbridge Animal Alliance will be accepted.
