The Christine Schadeberg Vocal Studio will present a “Mostly Mendelssohn” concert on Sunday, Nov. 17, featuring solos and duets by German composer Felix Mendelssohn.
The concert is set for 5 p.m. in the sanctuary at Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington. Attendees should enter through the front entrance at 202 S. Main St. A handicapped entrance is available via the church parking lot, just south of the intersection of Randolph and Preston streets. Felix Mendelssohn was a brilliant and prolific composer, pianist, organist and conductor, and the singers have chosen from a wide variety of his styles: love songs, folk songs and songs with religious texts.
The Studio singers on this concert include Lexington area residents Maia Browning, Sue Ann Huger, Susan Lynch, David Mayersky, Sandra Nye and Taylor Walle as well as Sarah Swett (Covington), and Samuel Johnson (Staunton).
Schadeberg has enjoyed a distinguished career as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist throughout the U.S. and Europe and has frequently appeared with the Rockbridge Choral Society in collaboration with William McCorkle. She established the Schadeberg Vocal Studio in 1999 and currently resides in Potomac, Md., with her husband Bill Wydro, making frequent visits to Rockbridge Baths where her parents retired in 1972.
