Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 High Bridge Presbyterian Church visitors this past Sunday were Larry and Mary Lou Mullins from Wetumpka, Ala. They are guests of Lea Braford (her sister) and husband Bill. Also visiting were Morgan and Harper Braford of Woodbridge, and Aza Braford of Highland County. They are grandchildren of E.G. and Betsy Shepherd.
During worship service, the church welcomed new members Lynn and Ellen McCoy, Ruth Ann Parsons and John Pollock.
Small Church Bible study group will meet Thursday, Nov. 21, at the church fellowship hall with Joe Hawes leading the Bible study. Light refreshments will be served, and guests are welcome to attend.
The deacons are making plans for the fall chili cook-off on Sunday, Nov. 17, after church service. A trophy will be awarded to the winner; last year’s winner was John McCoy. Besides chili, cornbread and crackers are appreciated. All are welcome to attend.
Kathy Gilbert returned from a weekend with her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Hanna Gilbert in Denver, Colo.
Jane and Brenda Shafer, Cathy Ayers, Susan McKnight, and Sandy Watts recently returned from an Abbott bus tours mystery trip where they toured places of interest in New York.
Thanks to everyone who attended and helped with the annual pork dinner at Beth Horon United Methodist Church. It was a big success, and the funds will help support the church mission.
Also, thanks to everyone who supported the cakewalk at Glasgow First Aid to benefit the Glasgow Lifesaving Crew.
The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting cranberry sauce, stuffing and canned sweet potatoes (also vegetable oil) for the food pantry during the month of November.
