RC Players, Coaches Net Honors

Four Rockbridge County High School volleyball players received all-district honors last week, and the RC coaches were named the Valley District coaches of the year.

RC junior outside hitter Jada Hamilton was named to the all-district first team. All-district second team selections for the Wildcats were senior libero Rebekah Allen, junior setter Maisen Mckemy and junior middle hitter Mackenzie McCormick.

The RC coaches are first-year head coach Gabe Wagner and assistant coaches Jeremy Brown, Jaden Harrison and Justin Madsen. After graduating five all-district seniors from last year’s Class 3 state quarterfinal team, the Wildcats went 10-10 overall during the regular season and 9-5 in the district, qualifying for the Region 3C tournament. In the first two rounds of the regional tournament last week, the 11th-seeded Wildcats defeated sixth-seeded Western Albemarle 3-2 and third-seeded East Rockingham, also 3-2.
