Narrows Pulls Away From Blues In Regional Quarterfinals, 52-14

The Parry McCluer High School football team concluded its season with a 52-14 road loss to Pioneer District rival Narrows in the Region 1C quarterfinals.

The game was tied 14-14 in the second quarter, but the fourth-seeded Green Wave (6-4 overall, 3-1 district) outscored the fifth-seeded Fighting Blues 38-0 the rest of the way at Ragsdale Field.

When the two teams met during the Blues’ homecoming game on Oct. 11 in Buena Vista, Narrows (6-4 overall, 3-1 district) won 35-13.

Jackson Brockenbrough led the Fighting Blues (6-5, 2-2) with 73 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

The Blues finished with the same record as last year, both overall and in the district, under the direction of second-year head Jeremiah Brockenbrough.

Narrows advanced to a Region 1C semifinal matchup next Friday at Bath County (10-0, 4-0), which cruised to a 42-6 home win over eighth-seeded Fort Chiswell in the regional quarterfinals on Friday.

The Blues will miss their five seniors: Jase Barger, Jackson Brockenbrough, Braden Conley, Peyton Montgomery and Sean O’Connor.
