The News-Gazette will once again be publishing an advent calendar in the weeks leading up to Christmas, with the goal of starting the calendar next week.

The deadline for each week’s calendar is Mondays at 1 p.m.

It was announced at the Town Council meeting last week that the new Dollar General Market is scheduled to open in mid December.
The Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Church located at Natural Bridge Station provided a delicious meal, free to the community, last Saturday. Hundreds of local citizens were blessed by their efforts with good food and fellowship.
The annual Christmas parade, sponsored by the Glasgow Lifesaving Crew, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. The parade will follow the traditional route through town and end at the squad building on McCulloch Street where light refreshments will be served, Santa will be on hand to talk to the children, and parade awards will be given. The grand marshal this year will be Town Manager Allyson Finchum.
The Glasgow Lifesaving Crew’s recent cakewalk was very successful and they appreciate those who donated cakes, and took part in the event.
About 60 kids, plus accompanying adults, took part in the “trunk or treat” event on Nov. 2. Seventy pounds of non-perishable food was received. The fire department, first aid crew, Natural Bridge State Park and a few other vehicles participated in giving out candy.
Garrett Grant, associate pastor of Glasgow Baptist Church, attended the Southern Baptist homecoming event Nov. 10-12 in Chesapeake.
