This year’s nursing students at Rockbridge County High School decided to use their class bulletin board to focus on health and disease awareness. Recently, they created bulletin boards to help bring awareness to the student population about different cancers. The nursing students have taken great pride in this project, but wanted to do more. So, recently the Nurse Aide I & II students held a bake sale to raise money for a local cancer patient. The students sold cancer awareness bracelets and brought in homemade baked goods to sell to the students, faculty and staff. Their original goal was to raise $1,000. However, they were able to surpass that with a final total of more than double at over $2,000. Pictured here are the students, along with their instructor Heather Higgins, as they presented their donation to Pat Conner, a local woman who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
