Parry McCluer High School senior Olivia Julian signs her national letter of intent to continue her academic and softball career at Potomac State College, a Division II national junior college in West Virginia on Friday in the PM library. Joining her at the signing are (from left) her father, James; her sister, Lani; her brothers, Brody and Maverick; and her mother, Tabitha. Julian is primarily a first baseman for the Fighting Blues, but she also pitches. During her junior year, she had a 0.375 batting average, with 21 hits, 18 RBIs, 15 runs and a .500 slugging percentage. At first base, she had a fielding percentage of .953. She was selected to the all-district first team and the all-region second team, battling through hip and back issues the last month of the season. As a sophomore, Julian was selected to the all-district and all-region first teams. Julian said the signing was “very special. I just want to thank my family for everything and my coaches because I wouldn’t be here without them.” Troy Clark has been her head coach throughout her PM career. She plans to study to be a dental hygienist, and said she chose Potomac State because she liked the atmosphere, the players and the coaches. (Jonathan Schwab photo)
