Nov. 21, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: The Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation (RRLF) annual appeal letter is in the mail in advance of Giving Tuesday. Our goal on the board was to make the letter short, to the point and keep it less than a page. So, this advance notification will do the same.
This year the Foundation’s annual distribution to the Rockbridge Regional Library System (RRLS) was in excess of $92,000, and since its inception in 1992, the RRLF has provided over $2 million. While support from state and local governments are the main sources of the library’s annual budget, funds from the Foundation provide enhancements to expand collections, offer a wider range of programs, modernize facilities, and make essential services available.
What’s the old adage: “if you can read, thank a teacher.” There is no doubt about that, with reading being the bedrock of education. Reading opportunities and so much more abound through the library system with outreach to Lexington, Buena Vista, all of Rockbridge County and Bath County. The RRLS is a community treasure, and the Foundation is proud to support its many programs.
We ask that your readers to consider a generous contribution when they receive the appeal letter. If for some reason they do not receive a letter, donations may be made online (www.rrlib. net) or via check to Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation, 138 S. Main St., Lexington, VA 24450. The Foundation is a 501 (c)3 organization. MIKE STRICKLER Vice president, Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation
