Radio station WANV of Waynesboro announced that it would be opening a new station in Buena Vista by Labor Day 1975.. - The Buena Vista School Board unanimously voted to retain the Responding series of English textbooks at Parry McCluer Middle School. The textbooks came under fire after some parents found some of the content offensive. -A New Jersey man spent the night in the Rockbridge County Jail after being charged with taking a tractor-trailer from White’s Truck Stop while the driver sat inside eating his dinner.

The annual candlelight processional and tree lighting in Hopkins Green took place in downtown Lexington.

- Extras were needed to the movie “War of the Worlds,” which was being filmed in the area. Extras could expect to earn about $100 per 12-14-hour day.
