PM Girls Down Glenvar On Hardcourt

Monday, Dec. 16 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 51-27 home victory over Glenvar.

Victoria Hamilton totaled 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Fighting Blues completed a season sweep of the Highlanders (0-6). Natalie Mohler notched 11 points for PM, while Peira Conner tallied three points, 11 rebounds and a game-high seven assists.

Audrey Moles led Glenvar with 11 points, and Kinley Phillips snared nine rebounds.

PM never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points of the opening period and stretching the margin to 16-5 by the end of the first quarter.

The Blues' offense bogged down in the second period, going scoreless for over four minutes as the game approached halftime. But a 3-pointer from Emory Slagle broke the drought and sent PM into the locker room ahead 23-9.

PM would maintain a double-digit scoring margin throughout the second half, and a 19-point fourth quarter allowed the Blues to pull away even further.

Slagle and Josie Martinez each scored eight points for the Blues. Martinez also collected six rebounds, while Kylie Ramsey totaled eight boards. Ryan Jones chipped in six points for the Highlanders, and Abigail Teubert notched five rebounds.

PM will play host to Nelson County on Thursday, beginning with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m.
