Rockbridge Conservation has announced the appointment of Jamie Goodin as the organization’s new executive director.
Goodin brings with him years of experience in n o n p r o f i t leadership, and community engagement, and will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Rockbridge Conservation, said Kirin Lattomus, RC communications director.
Goodin was adopted and raised by two lifelong public school teachers, coaches and community leaders in Amherst. He attended Washington and Lee University, studying business administration, and graduated in 2010.
Since returning to Rockbridge in 2012, he has been active within the nonprofit community, serving on the boards of Main Street Lexington, United Way of Rockbridge, Lime Kiln Theater, Walker Program, Main Street Buena Vista, and the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation.
Goodin has also helped to lead several community development organizations, including the Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees, Lexington Collaboratory & Makerspace, LexCollective, and ActionBV. He has also served as chair of the Lexington Planning Commission and serves on the Lexington Industrial Development Authority.
In the private sector, Goodin is the founder/CEO of a business development firm and has worked with many local businesses, including leading the successful GoBV real estate development project.
Today, his personal mission remains the same: empower our neighbors to actively create the community and culture of their dreams through openminded collaboration, diligent teamwork, and a light heart. To this end, Goodin said he is enthusiastic to join Rockbridge Conservation to help ensure the environment of natural abundance within Rockbridge remains available for present and future generations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jamie Goodin to the team,” said Lattomus. “His leadership, vision, and passion for conservation align perfectly with our mission to protect and enhance the unique landscapes of the Rockbridge region. We are excited to work together to continue the important work of preserving our natural resources for future generations.”
As executive director, Goodin will lead Rockbridge Conservation’s efforts to conserve critical lands, foster environmental education, and advocate for sustainable practices in the Rockbridge community. He will also oversee fundraising, community outreach, and partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders.
“Rockbridge Conservation has long been a cornerstone of environmental protection in the region, securing conservation easements, supporting local landowners, and promoting sustainable land-use practices,” said Lottomus. “With Jamie Goodin’s leadership, the organization is poised to continue making significant strides in preserving the natural heritage of Rockbridge County.”
