By a three-to-two vote, Lexington City Council appointed Taylor Woody to serve the remaining 17 months of B. McCluer Gilliam’s term. Gilliam resigned because he was no longer a city resident. - Wise and Waddell Inc., a Lexington insurance agency, was purchased by E.W. Barger and Co. of Waynesboro. - Predicting that Virginia’s budget could fall short by $20 to $100 million, Del. Charles W. “Bunny” Gunn said that the state’s financial situation would take top priority as the 1975 General Assembly session convened. By law, the state’s budget had to be balanced.

After nearly 15 years of providing after-school childcare for working parents, Child-Net merged with the Rockbridge Area YMCA. - Lethia Hammond, director of marketing and public affairs for the Virginia Horse Center, told the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors that for every dollar the state invested in the center, $5 in tax revenues was generated.
- Nelson Fox celebrated his 400th game win as head basketball coach at Parry McCluer High School.
