The Rockbridge County School Board honored teachers, custodians, and other staff with REDOT (Rockbridge Employees Doing Outstanding Things) awards at its Dec. 10 meeting.
The awards were presented by Rick Bain, human resources supervisor.
For Natural Bridge Elementary, custodians Greg Shanks, Carson Richards and Steve Tomlin were honored for working tirelessly around HVAC renovations and ensuring the building was ready for opening day.
For Central Elementary School, custodian Christopher Braun, new this year, was praised for his “200% effort” and willingness to help anyone in need. Special educator Karen Duff was recognized for taking on a new role, helping communicate with Spanish-speaking families.
For Mountain View Elementary School, Tate Ramsey received praise for her constant smile and positive attitude toward students and staff.
For Fairfield Elementary School, teachers Cathy Whitesell and Katrina “Trina” Leonard were commended for their enthusiasm, expertise, and dedication to guiding students’ academic and personal growth.
For Maury River Middle School, custodian Jack Riley was celebrated for being dependable and keeping the school in top shape. Librarian Lisa Gay-Miliken earned praise for her contagious energy, and teacher Erin Poulin was recognized for fostering an uplifting class environment, starting each day with the chant, “We will succeed!”
For Rockbridge County High School, teacher Andy Martin was honored for his dedication and ability to connect with students, while Assistant Principal Amy Henson was recognized for maintaining a calm, supportive presence.
For the Central Office, Holly Ferguson, Family & Community/McKinney Vento liaison, was lauded for her consistent outreach to families. Clerk Rhonda Humphries was praised for her helpfulness, kindness, and team spirit.
