HERBERT WIDDIFIELD JR.

On Feb. 14, 2023, Herbert Percy Widdifield Jr. quietly passed away at his farm near Buena Vista.

On Feb. 14, 2023, Herbert Percy Widdifield Jr. quietly passed away at his farm near Buena Vista.

Born Jan. 23, 1931, in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Herbert Percy and Nellie Bradner Widdifield.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Avis Widdifield.

Jr. was a pillar of the local community where he operated Widdifield Tire with his brother, Charlie Widdifield, for over 40 years. He was a dedicated family man, a devoted Christian, a hardworking farmer, and a Navy veteran. He will be remembered as a thoughtful and joyful person and will be missed.

He is survived by his sons, Chad Widdifield and wife Robyn of Afton, Gary Hatter of Buena Vista, and Mike Hatter and wife Judy of Arlington; his five wonderful grandchildren, Casey Widdifield, Tyler Widdifield, Matthew Hatter, Aaron Hatter, and Sarah Bergel; and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Brielle and Carlene. He is also survived by his sisters Nyoka Mays and Martha Fitzgerald, and brother John Widdifield. There a re m any others he loved as family, and they will hold a special place in our hearts for the kindness they showed Jr. over the years.

A funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 18, at Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed at Green Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services. N-G
