Health Foundation Offering Grants To Groups

The Rockbridge Community Health Foundation, in conjunction with Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, is seeking grant applications from 501c3 organizations serving Rockbridge County and the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista for the 2025 grant cycle.

The mission of both organizations is to improve the health of the community. It is their hope that these grants will help to achieve that goal. All qualified organizations working to improve the health, welfare and education of the residents of the Rockbridge area are encouraged to apply.

The most recent Rockbridge Area Community Health Assessment, completed in 2024 by the hospital and community partners through the coalition Live Healthy Rockbridge, identified top health priorities in the Rockbridge area. Organizations providing ongoing programs or initiatives addressing these health priorities are encouraged to apply: chronic disease; overweight/obesity; heart disease; hypertension; mental health and substance use; poor mental health; substance use; depression; injury/violence; and interpersonal violence.

The Foundation is also seeking multi-year grant applications from applicants who would initiate new programs to address the highest priorities in the Rockbridge County Health Needs Assessment. Grants in this category would be automatically renewable (subject to fulfillment of grant conditions) for two additional years. The intent of the Foundation is that these grants would be for either new programs or significant scope expansions of existing programs, with a clearly articulated planned impact on the highest priorities. An applicant may apply for both the single-year and multi-year grants.

Organizations that are interested in funding will be asked to share, as a part of the application process, how their project aligns with the most recent Community Health Assessment as well as how their organization collaborates with other groups in our community. All organizations awarded a grant will be required to submit project evaluations to document completion or progress of the specified program or initiative.

Grant recipients for 2024 were Blue Ridge CASA for Children, Boxerwood Education Association, Bridge to Hope Food Pantry, W&L’s Campus Kitchen, Concerned Citizens of Glasgow, ConnectionsPlus + Hospice, Friends of Natural Bridge State Park, Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center, Project Horizon, Rockbridge Area Health Center, Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization, Rockbridge Area Relief Association, Rockbridge Area Transportation System, Rockbridge Baths Community Organization, Rockbridge Christmas Baskets, Rockbridge Community Church of the Nazarene, Rockbridge Community Services Board, Rockbridge Recovery, Rockbridge Regional Jail, The Community Table of Rockbridge, Valley Program for Aging Services, Yellow Brick Road ELC, and the Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital.

Applications may be submitted online at www.rchealthfoundation. org or contact Hattie Myers at [email protected] for more information. The deadline for applications is Jan. 31.

Additional financial/organizational information may be requested as a part of the application process.
