Blues Handle Altavista For 4th Straight Win

Monday, Jan. 20 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team cruised past Altavista 58-34 in a non-district matchup in Buena Vista.

Kayleigh Ramsey scored 22 points to guide the Fighting Blues (9-2) to their fourth consecutive victory. Victoria Hamilton totaled 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for PM, and Natalie Mohler racked up nine assists and six points.

Kaylee Puryear paced the Colonels (1-11) with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Kyra Moon added six points.

When the teams met at Altavista on Jan. 2, the Blues rallied from a 28-18 halftime deficit to win 54-40. But in Monday's rematch, PM started the game on the front foot, scoring the first seven points of the night and never relinquishing the lead.

Ramsey was on fire throughout the first half, burying five 3-pointers and tallying 17 points across the first two periods. She also had plenty of help, as all seven Blues who saw action before halftime got into the scoring column.

PM led 38-14 at the intermission, and a quick 8-0 spurt to start the third quarter -- featuring six points from Hamilton -- put the game even further out of reach. The Blues led by as many as 33 points (56-23) in the fourth quarter before a late 11-2 Altavista run provided the final margin.

Kylie Ramsey notched four points and five rebounds for PM, while Emory Slagle contributed four points and three assists.

The Blues will play host to William Campbell in another non-district game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
