Thursday, Feb. 23 – The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team concluded its season with a 75-48 loss to George Wythe on Thursday night at Pulaski County High School.
The Fighting Blues, the second seed from the Pioneer District, finished with an overall record of 19-9, going 10-2 in the district. GW (25-2), the top seed from the Mountain Empire District, advanced to the regional finals and earned a berth in the Class 1 state tournament. The Maroons will face either Auburn or Bland County in the regional finals at Virginia Tech on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Blues, under the direction of first-year head coach Tyler Kerr, will miss their two seniors, Isaac Griffin and John Snider.
