Henrietta Campbell Dunlap, 90, a beloved teacher and administrator in the Lexington City school system, died at Stonewall Jackson Hospital after a long illness. Known as Miss Nettie, she taught at Ruffner School for 47 years before becoming principal of that school for 20 years. - Renovations were planned for Lexington’s Robert E. Lee Hotel, which was purchased by a new corporation, Robert E. Lee Hotel, Inc., from the Lee-Jackson Corp. -A second attempt by the Lexington City School Board to settle the question of the purchase of Lexington High School was rejected by the Rockbridge County School Board. The county board had, at an earlier meeting, rejected an initial offer by the city to purchase the county’s interest in the school for $570,000.

Charlene Thompson, coowner of J and C Upholstery Shop in Buena Vista and a Greyhound Bus ticket agent, announced that bus service at her shop would end as of April 30. The company was eliminating all of its smaller, less profitable stops in the area.
