PM Girls Hoops Defeats William Campbell

Thursday, Jan. 23 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team ran its winning streak to five games with a 49-30 home victory over William Campbell.

Victoria Hamilton tallied a game-high 23 points along with six rebounds, four assists and three blocks to pace the Fighting Blues (10-2) in the non-district matchup. Kayleigh Ramsey added 11 points for PM, and Emory Slagle notched six points and three assists.

Jordyn Wilson scored 21 points for the Generals (6-6). Arnesia Dews chipped in six points, and Cassie Townes had five rebounds.

William Campbell led 6-5 on a fastbreak bucket from Dews with 2:47 left in the first quarter. But the Blues closed the stanza with a 9-2 stretch, getting one triple from Hamilton and a pair from Slagle en route to crafting a 14-8 advantage.

Hamilton had six points in the second quarter, and PM outscored the Generals 10-2 in the frame to stretch the margin to 24-10 by the break. The Blues would maintain a double-digit margin throughout the second half.

Natalie Mohler chipped in four points, four rebounds and four assists for PM. Peira Conner collected a game-high seven rebounds for the Blues, and Josie Martinez snared six boards.

PM will take on Gretna at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Rock the Ribbon Roundball Shootout at Rockbridge County High School.
