A Buena Vista man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Alleghany County last Monday, Jan. 20.
Virginia State Police reported that Edmond Thomas Floyd, 86, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 12:53 a.m. on Interstate 64, two miles west of Dabney Drive.
A 2025 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Mr. Floyd, was traveling east in the westbound travel lanes, when the vehicle struck a Kenworth tractor-trailer traveling west, head-on.
Mr. Floyd was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver of the tractor-trailer was wearing his seatbelt and was injured. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation.
