Thank you to Sara Dunlap for playing the keyboard in worship at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Thanks to all who helped set up the fellowship hall for our worship service on Sunday as the boiler gets checked out in the sanctuary. We will celebrate communion on Sunday, Feb. 2. The children will play chimes on Sunday and will practice at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday after Bible study, which is Wednesday at the church at 5:15. We are studying Matthew. All are welcome.
The Sewing Club for all ages will meet at church on Thursday at 3:30 pm. Thanks to those who have donated fabric for our creative endeavors! On Sunday, Feb. 2, we will have a congregational meeting following the service. The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the budget and our trustee, Laura Hotinger.
Carson Slaydon, as a member of the page program in Richmond, will be collecting items for the Virginia Commonwealth University hospital “busy bags” for the next two weeks. Items that can be included in the bags are: travel sized tissue packs, travel sized lotion (unscented), small journals/notebooks, word search books, mechanical pencils or ink pens, Chapstick (unscented and unmedicated), mints/ginger or citrus flavored candy (individually wrapped and expiration date on package), knitted or crocheted hats, knitted or crocheted scarves or hand warmers, small bottles of sunscreen (unmedicated and unscented) and new pairs of socks.
Elementary-aged students are invited to come decorate Valentine’s Day cookies with the pastors on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6:15 p.m., following Bible study.
Mark your calendars for a game night on Friday, Feb. 14. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than playing games and sharing laughter with friends! We will have pizza and games, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.
Looking ahead to March, here are some dates to keep in mind: Tuesday, March 4, will be our annual pancake dinner at New Monmouth from 5 to 7 p.m. This is a free dinner, but donations will be accepted that will go to a local ministry.
The next Music Sunday will be Sunday, March 30. If you would like to offer special music, please let Rachel or Casey know. We will have a potluck fellowship lunch following the service.
Local Rockbridge County High School student, Calvin Clark, played trumpet with the Washington and Lee University Jazz Ensemble at the Martin Luther King Jr. remembrance concert on Sunday evening, Jan. 26. The ensemble and choirs provided beautiful music and were accompanied by readings and reflections on the life of Dr. King.
