PM Boys Back In Full Force

Cook, Glass Return To Lead Blues To Two Wins

The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team cruised to two road wins last week, trouncing Pioneer District opponent Highland County 71-38 last Monday before routing William Campbell 83-56 in nondistrict action on Thursday.

With the win over Highland County (4-6 overall, 1-4 district), the Blues improved to 4-0 in the district and completed a sweep of the regular-season series. When the teams met on Dec. 17 at PM, the Blues won 53-42.

Langston Cook, who had sat out the Blues’ previous three games with an ankle injury, led the Blues with 19 points and eight assists. Playing his first game since suffering a knee injury that ended his football season in late October, junior forward Nathan Glass had 17 points and nine rebounds. Also stepping up for the Blues was Jamier Jordan with 17 points, including 3-pointers.

Of the Blues’ current position in the district,, tied with Narrows at 4-0, PM head coach Tyler Kerr said, “It’s huge to keep grinding to that one seed. If you don’t get that first seed, you’re two or three or four, trying to get through the district tournament. We still have to take care of business. [Eastern Montgomery] is improved, and our Narrows matchup is always a big one. But I like the way our team is shaping up and I’m looking forward to that district stretch.”

PM 83, WC 56

In the rematch, Cook led all players with a season-high 37 points, pulled down six rebounds, and dished out six assists. Glass scored 10 points for PM, and Sam Griffin chipped in nine.
