Happy belated Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so I suppose that means we’re in for six more weeks of wintry weather. I love winter, but Mother Nature can keep those single digits to herself!
Sending birthday wishes to my unclein- law Aaron Blair in Rawlins, Wyo., from his Virginia family and to Cindy Blankenship and Lezley Blankenship, as well as to Faith Baptist Church members Bonnie Jenkins, Hunter Davis, Sue Hiatt and Tony Hutcherson, and to St. John’s Episcopal Church members Nat Massie and Scott Carroll.
At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast this morning at 8. A Ladies Circle meeting will be on Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. The church’s Valentine’s Dinner will be on Feb. 16.
Many thanks to the Rev. Dr. Bob Copenhaver for leading a Holy Eucharist service this past Sunday at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Thanks also to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music. Next Sunday will be a Holy Eucharist service led by the Rev. Dr. Chip Prehn.
This Sunday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. Absalom Jones Commemoration will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church. In 1802, the Rev. Jones was the first African-American to be ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church. The Rev. Bernie Jones, deacon, will be a guest speaker. The event is sponsored by Beloved Community. All are welcome to attend!
