Cook’s 41 Leads Blues

The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team earned an 89-75 road win over Pioneer District foe Eastern Montgomery last Wednesday in Elliston.

Leading the Fighting Blues (12-4 overall, 5-0 district) in their highest-scoring performance of the season was Langston Cook, who poured in a career-high 41 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out seven assists against the Mustangs (11-6, 6-2). Braedyn Houck added 17 points for PM, going 4-of-5 from beyond the 3-point line, while Quentin Rosser added 13 points, going 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

The Blues were scheduled to play host to Craig County on Friday, but that game was postponed due to flooding in Craig County and rescheduled for next Thursday, Feb. 13, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m. The Blues were slated to play host to Bath County last night and will continue district action on Friday at Narrows (10-6, 4-1), currently in second place in the district after a 69-58 loss to Eastern Montgomery last Friday. The varsity game will start at 5:30 p.m., prior to the 7 p.m. varsity girls’ game. PM will have a rematch at home against Eastern Montgomery on Tuesday, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m. The Blues will then play host to Narrows, with the boys’ varsity contest at 7 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. game between the PM and Narrows girls.
