Under normal circumstances, Medicaid beneficiaries’ eligibility for benefits is reviewed and renewed once a year. During the Covid pandemic, this requirement was waived and eligibility was automatically renewed.
The public health emergency declaration that allowed the exception will expire on May 11, and the Department of Social Services (DSS) and Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) will be required to resume annual eligibility reviews. It is very important that these agencies have current addresses for all Medicaid beneficiaries.
Those receiving Medicaid benefits who have moved or changed their mailing address since March 2020 need to take only one action right now. They need to inform these agencies of their correct mailing address so that important documents will be received.
To update their address, Rockbridge area Medicaid beneficiaries can:

• Call Cover Virginia at (855) 242-8282.
