Drivers in Lexington are asked to exercise caution when traveling through work zones as Columbia Gas of Virginia upgrades natural gas infrastructure over the coming months.
This will involve Columbia Gas replacing underground pipe in Lexington along portions of Hamric Street, Providence Place, Sunset Drive, Colston Place, Bowyer Lane, Courtland Center, Paxton Street, Johnstone Street, Mcmath Circle, Stonewall Street, Oakview Drive, Marshall Street, and Ross Road at the Stonewall entrance.
The project has a start date of mid-February and is estimated to wrap up in August.
Work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weekend work is also possible, and drivers can expect potential lane and street closures with detours during working hours.
When traveling through Columbia Gas work zones, drivers are urged to be prepared for slowed or temporarily stopped traffic.
