Due to the winter storm this week and hazardous road conditions, various local high school athletic events have been rescheduled.
For Rockbridge County, the boys and girls basketball games that were scheduled for tonight, Thursday, against East Rockingham have been rescheduled for Saturday afternoon. For their final games of the season, the RC boys will play host to ER, starting with junior varsity action at noon. The RC girls will play at ER, with the varsity game only at 2:15 p.m. The games against William Monroe that were originally scheduled for Tuesday were postponed to Friday, with the boys at RC and the girls at WM, starting with JV action at 5:30 p.m. Prior to the boys’ JV game, at 5 p.m., the Wildcats will honor their eight seniors, along with RC’s senior winter cheerleader.
The RC boys and girls swimming teams will compete at the Region 3C meet, originally scheduled for Tuesday, on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at the Brooks Family YMCA in Charlottesville. Also on Saturday, the RC indoor track and field teams will compete at the Region 3C meet at Edward S. Long Jr. Track at Rockingham County’s new recreation center facility in Rockingham Park at the Crossroads in Penn Laird. The RC wrestling team will grapple in the Region 3C tournament on Saturday at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater, starting at noon.
For Parry McCluer, the boys basketball home games against Craig County that were scheduled for tonight have been canceled. the varsity game. The PM girls basketball games at Craig County are still on for Friday, starting with the varsity game at 4:30 p.m. The boys and girls varsity home games against Narrows, originally scheduled for Wednesday, will be on Saturday, with the girls’ game at 1 p.m., followed by the boys’ game. Before the boys’ game, the Blues will honor their four seniors.
The PM wrestling team will grapple in the Region 3C tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Giles High School in Pearisburg, moved up from Saturday due to the forecast of inclement weather.
PM senior swimmer Olive King will compete in the Region 1C and 2C meet tonight, Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
