Trump’s ‘Current Attack More Difficult To Defeat’

Feb. 14, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: After President Trump’s minions unsuccessful assault on our nation’s democracy, he and his sycophants plotted another more refined, effective approach.

Now, rather than physically attacking our government, Trump has unleashed a Blitzkrieg on its mechanisms, violating the underpinnings of the Constitution.

This time, rather than a disruptive mob, his accomplices include a complicit Republican Congress, a compliant Supreme Court, a group of power-hungry tech bros, and an ill-informed populace. After Jan. 6, principled individuals stymied Trump’s ambitions. His current, wellorganized attack will be more difficult to defeat, but if he is not stopped, Trump will wound, if not extinguish our democracy. FRANK SETTLE Lexington
