High Bridge Presbyterian Church mourns the loss of lifetime member Bob Gilbert, who passed away at home on Feb. 18 after a short illness. A memorial service was held at High Bridge on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a reception afterward in the fellowship hall. The service filled the church to capacity with family and friends. Reflections on Bob’s life were given by Jason Grimes, Dave Parker and Daniel Gilbert. Pastoral meditation was presented by Rev. Steve Willis and pianist was Donna Armentrout.
Bob served his church as a lay speaker when called upon. He also served as elder, deacon, cemetery trustee, and up to his recent illness, a Sunday school teacher. He was previously president of the Natural Bridge Ruritan Club, a member of Friends of Natural Bridge State Park and delivered Meals on Wheels along with wife Kathy, who made a special food item for their deliveries.
