State Swimming, Wrestling Postponed

As a result of last week’s winter storm, the Virginia High School League postponed all state championship events for swimming and diving, wrestling and gymnastics that were scheduled for this past weekend weekend.

For our local teams, the Class 3 state swim meet, for which five Rockbridge County High School boys swimmers qualified, is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, March 4, at the SwimRVA Collegiate School Aquatics Center in Richmond, starting at 8 a.m. Parry McCluer High School senior girl Olive King will compete there in the Class 1 and 2 state swim meet on Thursday, starting at 8 a.m.

The state wrestling tournaments, with eight PM grapplers competing in the Class 1 tournament and five RC wrestlers in the Class 3 state tournament, have been rescheduled for this Saturday, March 1. The Class 1 tournament will be at Virginia High School in Bristol, while the Class 3 tournament will be at Heritage High School in Lynchburg. The Virginia High School League Girls State Open Wrestling Championships are scheduled for today, Wednesday, and Thursday at Henrico Sports & Events Center in Glen Allen.
