The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team earned a 71-58 win over local rival Rockbridge County to complete a sweep of the season series on Saturday night in Buena Vista.

The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team earned a 39-35 overtime win at home over local rival Rockbridge County, completing a sweep of the season series on Saturday evening in Buena Vista.

The Parry McCluer girls basketball team cruised to a 60-21 home win over Pioneer District rival Highland County on Friday night in Buena Vista. It was the third consecutive win for the Fighting Blues (8-3 overall, 3-0 district).

The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team started the new year with a 55-32 home win over Pioneer district rival Highland County on Friday night in Buena Vista. With the victory, the Fighting Blues (8-3 overall, 2-1 district) extended their winning streak to six games.

The Parry McCluer High School indoor track and field teams, along with several athletes from Rockbridge County High School, participated in the East Coast Elite Meet on Friday at Roanoke College’s Cregger Center in Salem.

The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball team suffered a pair of losses last week, falling 81-48 last Tuesday at Fort Defiance before losing at home 83-40 to Spotswood on Friday. The Wildcats (1-11 overall, 1-3 Valley District) entered this week on a sixgame losing streak.

The Rockbridge County High School girls basketball team suffered three lopsided losses, falling at home 66-31 last Tuesday to Fort Defiance, losing 83-40 to Valley District rival Spotswood on Friday and dropping an 82-20 road loss to Salem on Dec. 29. The losses extended RC’s losing streak to five games.
