The Parry McCluer High School girls tennis team earned a 7-2 home win over Prince Edward County last Wednesday to improve to 7-0, while the Rockbridge County girls dropped three matches to fall to 2-10.

In a week of three Valley District home matches, the Rockbridge County High School boys tennis team earned a 6-3 win over Turner Ashby last Wednesday but suffered 5-4 losses to Broadway last Tuesday and to Harrisonburg last Thursday.

Playing a strong all-around game, the Parry McCluer High School softball team earned a 10-9 road win over Pioneer District leader Covington on Tuesday of last week.

The Parry McCluer High School baseball team split a pair of games early last week, suffering a 10-0 home loss to Nelson County last Monday before earning a 7-1 road win over Pioneer District rival Covington last Tuesday.

The Guns and Hoses softball games took place at Secrist Park in Glen Maury Park on Saturday evening, and the Guns (wearing blue), comprised of the Buena Vista law enforcement community, won both games. They were playing against the Hoses (wearing red), the Buena Vista Fire Department and rescue squad. Donations and funds raised at the game went to the new playground at Glen Maury Park.
