Thomas Bayne Daniels Jr., age 83, of New Kent, passed from this life on Sept. 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Thomas Bayne Daniels Jr., age 83, of New Kent, passed from this life on Sept. 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 9, 1939 in Carroll County to the late Thomas Bayne Daniels, Sr. and Ossie Suitt Daniels. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Reba Joyce Daniels. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Alicie Daniels; daughters, Regina Daniels Donald (Paul Montgomery) of Brownsburg; Kimberly Daniels Huffman (Sammy) of Natural Bridge; stepson, Samuel Erich Davis of Richmond; four grandchildren, Jennifer Parrent (Kevin), Thomas Pelletier, Andrew Pelletier II, and Matthew Pelletier; three great grandchildren, Troy, Luke and Nathan; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law.

He joined the Virginia State Police in 1961 and served in Salem, Clintwood, Wytheville, Lexington and Richmond. He retired as a lieutenant after 35 years of service. He then worked as a court security officer for the Federal Courthouse in Richmond for almost 20 years. He was an avid sports fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies and Boston Red Sox.

A funeral service will be held Sunday Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Grubb Funeral Home, 215 South 6th Street Wytheville, with the State Police Chaplain Aaron W. Terry officiating and Masonic rites. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery, 1825 West Lee Highway, Wytheville. A reception will follow at Memorial Christian Church, 2479 Burleigh Horton Road, Draper.
