ROB MINOR

ROB MINOR

Robert Exum Minor, 75, of Lexington died peacefully on Feb. 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Born Oct. 8, 1948, in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of John W. Minor II and Martha Exum Minor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Susan Norton Minor; his adored daughter Thornley Minor McWilliam and her husband David J. McWilliam; his grandchildren, James, Robert, Molly and Hazel McWilliam; nephew John W. Minor IV; and several cousins.

Rob grew up in Birmingham, and was a graduate of Birmingham University School (B.U.S.). He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1971 and was a member Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He received his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, and was a member of the Alabama Bar Association throughout his career. In Birmingham he was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and a longtime member of Mountain Brook Club and the Beaux Arts Krewe.

Following law school, Rob embarked on a long career as general counsel and as a business executive in several growing successful entrepreneurial companies in the coal mining industry, real estate development, energy, technology startups, and finally in the behavioral health care industry for almost 20 years until his retirement, when he became a consultant in that field.

In Lexington, Rob was active on the boards of Connection Plus Healthcare + Hospice, where he was a valued member of the finance committee, and the Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany County (CFRBA). In addition, he was a member of the W&L Annual Fund Council.

He had a wonderful dry wit and mischievous laugh, and enjoyed reading and sharing interesting information he learned, driven by a lifelong curiosity and pursuit of knowledge. He also delighted in making new friends, exercising, and walking on the Woods Creek Trail near his home.

A memorial service was held at Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, where he was the former senior warden, on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The service is available to view online via https://www.youtube. com/@graceepiscopalchurch6604.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Connection Plus Healthcare + Hospice (www.connectionsplus.care), the Minor Family Fund at CFRBA (www.cfrba.org), or your charity of choice.
