LEWIS ALLEN

LEWIS ALLEN

Lewis William Allen, 84, of Buena Vista passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, and entered the heavenly presence of God to acquire a glorious body void of earthly elements.

He was born Feb. 20, 1940 in Montebello, the son of the late Jacob Edward and Carlene Ethel Grant Allen.

He married Nancy Bryant Allen on Sept. 24, 1966, enjoying over 50 years of marriage to the one he loved.

Lewis worked at Burlington Industries for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter, constructing the Big Buck Hunt Club’s cabin on the North Fork of Tye River in 1986. He also enjoyed fishing and telling stories about game wardens and his biggest catch. Lewis routinely watched TV, including NASCAR, NFL, “Bonanza,” “Gunsmoke” and other classics. He attended Irish Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was always first in the line at church dinners. Lewis loved to laugh with family and friends, often initiating the wit of the laughter.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilmer Edward Allen, Kennan Wilson Allen and Franklin Telton Allen, and his sister Ethel Pauline Allen Bryant.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tricia Allen of Forest; granddaughters, Eden Allen of Knoxville, Tenn., and Caroline Allen of Forest; and numerous extended family members.

Thank you God for giving us a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, pa, and friend. Praise God for dedicated caregivers who lovingly cared for Lewis and Nancy, specifically Robin, Brenda, Nancy, Sharon and Edith while at home; for Elizabeth Kosmas, NP at Rockbridge Medical Group, for serving her patients with heart; and for multiple members of the team at Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home, followed by a 2 p.m. graveside service at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Dickson officiating.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please visit shut-in family members, friends, and/or neighbors to bring joy, love, and care to their lives and let them know that Jesus loves them!

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
