MICHAEL BYERS
MICHAEL BYERS
Michael was born on May 10, 1942 to Virginia “Jenny” Arlene Byers in Buena Vista. Upon completion of high school at Parry McCluer, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force. His time in the Air Force took him to many places, including Houston, Texas, where he eventually settled and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. His civilian career was long and varied, but he retired as a consultant in Houston’s thriving oil and gas industry.
Michael is survived by his children, Andrew Byers (Penny) of Dallas, Texas, Dwayne Byers of Houston, Ella Whitney Byers-DuBois (Travis) of Summerville, S.C., Jordan Byers (Lea) of Houston, and Sydney Rexrode (Nathan) of Staunton; and siblings William Truslow (Terry) of Crimora, and Dana Truslow (Mary) of Eau Claire, Wis.
He was also the best Pawpaw to 10 grandchildren, Austin, Madelyn, Mackenzy, Brady, Olivia, Camden, Parker, Gianna, “JJ” Jordan Jr., and Cheyenne.
He was very much his own man, and will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his silly sense of humor, and his love of baseball and golf.
A memorial service will take place in July at Green Hill Mausoleum in Buena Vista. Details will be announced at a later date. N-G
